Since the garden has been fallow all spring and summer, there was still a little maintenance work that needed to be done to prepare for the next growing season. The garden was sprayed with weed control a few weeks ago, and we put some vegetable garden friendly ant bait in the couple of boxes that were infested. June Thomas
volunteered to clean the dead weeds out of the boxes. Keegan and Brock Deloach tilled the boxes, and mustard, shallots, broccoli, green beans, and cabbage were planted. Much of the garden work outside of planting days are usually only 1 or 2 members at a time watering, weeding, and picking produce. Hopefully, we can have our fresh produce ready to give to those in need through our food pantry. Throughout the warm months of September and early October, we’ll need to water the seeds and young plants regularly. Please email or phone Brock Deloach (email@example.com or 318-880-1115) or phone the church office if you can volunteer to water the garden one day a week. If any problems arise such as broken hose, weeds, or pests let Brock know please. Thanks for everyone’s help.
